Lucy Liu is an American actor, voice actress, director producer and singer. She is an attractive, skilled actress that has inspired numerous Asian actors to achieve success in Hollywood. After a series of initial appearances in some popular series her fame was boosted after joining the team of the legal comedy show Ally McBeal where she played the sly Ling Woo. The actress translated her sudden success into big screen roles in movies such as Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. The film Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an impressive performance in the role of Japanese crime lord O-Ren Shii. In the meantime she was an actor in films that failed at the box office such as Rise: Blood Hunter were as well-known. In later years, she worked as voice actor in animated films, including Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason's role on the small screen on Cashmere Mafia did not produce anything of note. Southland's highly praised police show, Southland and a recurring part in the show helped Liu establish herself the status of an established actress. Liu chooses her roles with care so that she doesn't become a typecast character in such a competitive field. She has taken on her Chinese heritage but hasn't let it restrict her creativity.
