Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised on the outskirts of Barcelona She was described as an "atypical pop star" because of her genre-bending musical styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. The album combines flamenco with hip-hop and pop music The album resulted in "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu Mira" (single). Both songs have been hugely successful and were praised by critics across the world. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia onto the international music stage. [12][13(13) Rosalia explored urbano music with her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti x Tu x Mi", which achieved global recognition. She introduced reggaeton to a new style on her third studio album Motomami (2022) and departed from the modern flamenco sound of its predecessor. The album caught international attention with its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the best reviewed album this year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had a record of ten top-ten singles throughout her career in her home country. This is the highest number for an artist from that area. She has also won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year wins) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award, in 2019 for "changing the music of today's popular songs by introducing her unique flamenco pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first singing Spanish group to be nominated for the Best New Artist at Grammys.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her birthplace was in an ethnically diverse family and is the eldest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family business that is specialized in metalworking. Jose Manuel Vila, her father, was born in Cudillero. The couple divorced in the year 2019. Her older sister Pilar Vila is born in 1989, is her stylist. Rosalia was interested in the performing arts in her early years and was particularly interested when she came across the discography of Camaron de La Isla. She began her musical training in the Taller de Musics [es]. She attended a six year course at the academy. She took classes at the Raval School and was later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was an individual singer, performing at weddings, and at musical bars. The compensation for this was "a less than 80 euros" or as a reward for dinner. Rosalia was at the mercy of many underground Spanish artists during that period, including La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds, Maria Escarmiento, and Kaydy Cain.
